Capture Works - App Help Guide

Getting Started

  • Initial Setup
    • App permissions needed: Photo Library access for saving clips
    • File access permissions for selecting video folders
    • Recommended: Allow notifications for export completion alerts

Basic Navigation

  1. Main Screen
    • Company logo at top
    • Video selection button in center when no session loaded
    • Menu button in top right corner
    • Video controls appear at bottom when session is loaded
  2. Menu Options
    • Select Videos Folder: Choose folder containing your camera recordings
    • Show Available Sessions: View and select from detected video sessions

Working with Video Sessions

  1. Session Structure
    • Each session consists of two synchronized videos (Camera 1 and Camera 2)
    • Videos are automatically paired based on matching timestamps
    • Sessions are numbered chronologically
  2. Video Playback
    • Portrait mode: Videos stacked vertically
    • Landscape mode: Videos side by side
    • Playback controls:
      • Play/Pause button
      • Stop button
      • Progress slider
      • Current time / Total duration display
    • Tap screen to show/hide controls during playback
    • Screen brightness automatically maximizes during playback

Creating and Sharing Clips

  1. Creating Clips
    • Tap the share icon (square with arrow)
    • Set clip start and end times using sliders
    • Preview timing before export
  2. Exporting Options
    • Clips are saved to Photos app in "CaptureWorks" album
    • Export format: MP4
    • Layout: Vertical format optimized for mobile viewing
    • Both camera views included in single clip
  3. Sharing
    • Direct share from app to other apps/services
    • Save to Photos app for later use
    • Share via system share sheet

Troubleshooting

  1. Common Issues
    • No sessions found
      • Ensure correct folder selected
      • Check video file naming format (camera1_timestamp.mp4, camera2_timestamp.mp4)
      • Verify both camera files present for session
    • Playback issues
      • Check internet connection (if streaming)
      • Ensure sufficient device storage
      • Close other media-heavy apps
    • Export problems
      • Verify sufficient storage space
      • Check Photos app permissions
      • Try shorter clip duration if export fails
  2. Best Practices
    • Keep original video files organized in paired sets
    • Regular cleanup of exported clips to manage storage
    • Close app when not in use to conserve battery
